About HealingMaryland.com

This site is dedicated to my Mother, Ann Banks who died of lung cancer on February 3, 2005 at the young age of 56. Her initial diagnosis was stage four lung cancer, and her survival was less than two years. She endured chemotherapy for 9 months, lost her hair and her strength, but kept smiling for us. I saw a different kind of strength in her.

She was such a trooper during that time, and her courage was unbelievable. Three months later, two large tumors were discovered-- one around her heart and the other at the bottom of her right lung. December of 2004 was our last Christmas with Mom. She became very ill, and the disease was rapidly spreading throughout her lungs. It was a rare form of cancer contained only in her lungs. In January 2005, her kidneys failed, and she was sent home to die with her family. I will always cherish in my heart those last days with her.

One of the doctor’s suggestions was to clean all toxins from Mom’s home, which I had been working on before I brought her home. I was amazed at the amount of poisons I found. I had tried for years to tell her about changing to non-toxic cleaners, but like a lot of people her age, she thought bleach and Lysol cleaned best. Many common household cleaners are dangerous chemicals, and small amounts of exposure over long periods of time can potentially cause cancer.

We had also been advised by the doctors to use non-toxic products to bath Mom because of the sores she developed on her body.

Even though I lost my mom to a deadly disease, and I can’t bring her back, maybe I can help someone else along the way make better choices for themselves and their families. My mom wanted to make changes after her diagnosis, but it was too late. So, my hope is to help someone else to not have to go through what she did. I hope and pray I never again have to experience losing someone I love to such a horrible disease as lung cancer.

I dedicate this web-site in my Mom’s memory and hope to reach out and help people make better and more informed choices in their lives.

God Bless,

Lisa M.
